DESIGNER’S COMMENTS
The Inland Sound 48 represents new thinking in a yacht designed with the demanding environment of the Pacific Northwest in mind by integrating modern infused-composite boatbuilding techniques with the latest propulsion technology. The result is a vessel with unmatched capabilities in her class. The “tailgate” transom design and low–profile fly bridge maximize utility without compromising beauty. Her refined exterior encloses an interior arrangement crafted to the highest standards using native hardwoods and contemporary furnishings. The roomy interior will sleep 8, something you would only expect in a larger vessel. The layout has been designed around the up and aft galley allowing for an open layout that is family friendly by maximizing space on the main floor and providing a 360-degree view. The staterooms include a full width master and two guest suites. Overhead hatches, port lights and cowl vents offer natural lighting and ventilation while a 3-zone air-conditioner with reverse cycle heat, 24VDC lighting and two complete heads provide additional comfort. The vessel is equipped with an extensive list of accessories, all come as standard features.
Weighing in at 40,834 pounds, the Inland Sound 48 will cross the water at speeds in excess of 35-knots with its twin Volvo Penta IPS-2, 800 horsepower diesels. Coupled with Volvo IPS Drives with their incredibly maneuverable and responsive joy stick handling, this revolutionary drive system boasts an impressive 35% increase in fuel efficiency, 20% higher top speed, 15% faster acceleration than standard propulsion systems and unmatched handling for docking in all conditions. The hull has been designed specifically for the IPS drives and approved by the Volvo Engineering team prior to the molds being made.
Production of the Inland Sound 48 is underway at the SEA Marine Yacht Service facility in Port Townsend, WA with additional tooling being prepared by Bayview Composites in Mt. Vernon, WA. The Inland Sound 48 is being built with advanced resin infusion techniques including vinylester resin to ensure the strongest, most consistent, lightest weight parts in the industry with a high resin to glass ratio.
The Inland Sound 48 comes complete, fully commissioned and ready to take its owner and crew to their first destination. Since the boat is being produced on a semi-custom basis her new owner will have had ample opportunity to customize their Inland Sound.
